It is official we are open for business. The Olad departed for the first sail of her season yesterday. For a third year in a row, we are the first boat in the Maine’s sailing fleet to take out passengers. I am rather proud to be the Captain that gets thing started.
Yesterday we took our first trip out to East Goose Rock, the wind was fair and out of the North East. East Goose is one of my favorite destinations in the spring. We must have seen at least five pairs of mother seals and their baby pups lying up on the rocks. There we another ten seals in the water all around the boat.
The guests were great, most of them lived only a few miles from where the boat was built in Cape Cod, back in the 1920’s. The boat yard is still there and the guests knew the current owners. I enjoyed talking to them very much. I am glad to sailing the waters of Penobscot Bay once again doing what I was born to do.
